Penchant Lama is the character of our lives. By all means to everyone else he is fictional - but to Scott and me, this little blue creature from Mimjellia has grown very real and taught us many lessons.
Penchant Lama evolved from a murmuring, endearing imaginary friend (made up after reading a fundraising letter from Richard Gere about the plights of the Tibetan people and the captivity of the Penchen Lama) to the adventurous prophet he is today. I never thought my claim to fame would be bringing the "Penchant Lama to life," but I must admit I feel his prophetic message will someday change people's lives because it is delivered in an endearing, non-threatening, humorous way.
Back in Seminary school we often discussed what qualities modern day prophets possessed- the most common one was a brilliant sense of humor and a quick wit - the ability to analyze situations from all perspectives, identify how they will effect the world and then make the best of them. Penchant Lama is a modern day prophet, someone who says what everyone wishes they could say, understands when everyone is searching for meaning and then does what everyone truly wishes they could do. He inspires people to fly toward their big dream without regard for what others think. It is simple he says, "Fill your bowl with a king-size scoop of adventure and eat it down!"
